Which Procedures Should You Include?
During pregnancy, the breasts grow to prepare for breastfeeding, and the body hangs on to more fat because it needs extra fuel. As a result, after pregnancy, flabby, sagging skin hangs around the belly, the breasts sag and look deflated, and stubborn fat pockets throw off the shapely original contours of the pre-pregnancy body.
Whether it is a young mom wanting to reclaim her body that matches her age or an older mom who wants to feel more youthful, mommy makeovers are a growing trend that helps them do this. During the consultation, I have them show me in a mirror what they don’t like, and then we plan together a treatment that will make them happy. Those treatment plans often include the following:
Tummy Tuck
Virtually all mommy makeovers at my New Jersey practice include the Parker Tummy Tuck, which combines abdominoplasty and liposuction (lipo abdominoplasty). During pregnancy, the abdominal area, including the rectus abdominus muscles (abs), are stretched to extremes. Correction involves removing extra skin and tightening those muscles. It isn’t always necessary to perform a full tummy tuck where a mini-lipo abdominoplasty will suffice.
Breast Enhancement
A breast lift is another common mommy makeover procedure. This elevates and reshapes the breasts and nipples, restoring an uplifted, rounder, perkier breast profile. Women who want to add volume and correct sagging choose to add breast implants to their breast lift for a combined breast augmentation with lift. Some patients find their breasts are large and pendulous after having children, and they choose breast reduction surgery to enhance their appearance and their comfort.

Other Procedures
In recent years, more moms are opting for a Brazilian butt lift to lift and define their backside. This is a great complement to breast and tummy enhancement.
Treatments such as CoolSculpting®, CoolSmooth®, and BodyTite can slim and sculpt fat on the hips, thighs, or belly to refine mommy makeover results.
