Is Morpheus8 Good For Jowls?

When it comes to facial rejuvenation, our patients at Parker Center for Plastic Surgery are spoiled for choice. Whether surgical, nonsurgical, or a targeted combination of both, we offer a variety of treatments to restore a youthful glow, tighten loose skin, and reveal a vibrant, smooth complexion.

One such treatment is Morpheus8 RF microneedling, which combines the collagen and elastin-stimulating power of microneedling with the skin tightening abilities of radiofrequency (RF) energy. Morpheus8 is touted for its ability to contour the face and neck, resurface the skin, and counteract visible signs of aging. But is Morpheus8 good for jowls? Read on to learn more!

What Is Morpheus8?

Morpheus8 is a nonsurgical procedure aimed at smoothing and tightening the skin of the face, neck, and body. As mentioned earlier, it uses both microneedling and RF energy to rejuvenate aging and sun-damaged skin, but it does so in a unique way.

As a SARD (subdermal adipose remodeling device), Morpheus8 causes structural changes in the skin and underlying tissue for a tighter, smoother appearance. It channels radiofrequency energy through the microneedles (differentiating it from other RF devices), while penetrating much deeper than other microneedling treatments.

Morpheus8 also utilizes fractional coagulation to smooth wrinkles, minimize scars, and create more supple-looking skin—selectively targeting the tissue to promote a speedier recovery. The end result is a comprehensive “remodeling” of the treated area at the dermal level (the layer of connective tissue beneath the skin).

How Does Morpheus8 Treat Jowls?

Jowls can begin forming as early as a person’s 30s as loose skin and stubborn fat deposits cause sagging in the midface and around the jaw. Morpheus8 is ideally primed to combat this laxity and restore definition to the face and neck through its powerful two-pronged approach.

Rather than the roller typically associated with microneedling devices, Morpheus8 is used more like a stamp: the hand-held device is pressed into the skin as RF energy is “pulsed” through the needle points. After a few seconds, the device is lifted, and the next area is then treated.

Morpheus8 pierces the fatty layer beneath the skin and stimulates it with RF energy to trigger the body’s healing response. Collagen and elastin production begins, while the skin begins to firm in response to the waves of targeted energy. Fat cells also start breaking down and will naturally be metabolized and expelled from the body. In just 30 to 45 minutes, the main complaints associated with jowls—sagging skin, excess fat, and an overly “mature” facial profile—can be effectively addressed.

How Long Do Morpheus8 Results Last?

Patients may be fully satisfied with their results after their first Morpheus8 treatment, though up to 3 sessions are typical. As Morpheus8 relies on the body’s natural healing process to flush out degraded fat cells and generate new collagen, the transformation usually takes 3 weeks to become noticeable, with further improvements revealing themselves over time.

Most patients can go 2 to 3 years before feeling that a “top-up” treatment is needed, making Morpheus8 a relatively long-lasting facial rejuvenation option.

Can I Combine Morpheus8 With Other Procedures?

The tandem treatment of Morpheus8 and FaceTite is called EmbraceRF and can significantly enhance the skin-tightening, facial-contouring effects of each procedure on its own. Like Morpheus8, FaceTite also uses radiofrequency energy, though it channels it through a thin probe beneath the skin. This probe precisely heats and targets the soft tissues of the face for an even more dramatic transformation of the jowls.
