As a 48-year-old mother of three girls, Lisa spends a lot of time on her family. As she aged, Lisa became increasingly unhappy with the puffiness that developed under her eyes. She felt that her under eye area had become a trouble spot and wanted to see if there was anything she could do to improve it. Lisa did not want to undergo surgery and never considered consulting a plastic surgeon.
“Years ago I went to a home Botox party. Unfortunately, it was a terrible experience and not that much cheaper. I knew I’d never do that again. It was crazy. If I did this, I knew I’d only have it done in a doctor’s office. I knew of Dr. Parker and Angela from around town and heard of the Parker Center’s great reputation. Lisa made an appointment with, Angela Parisi, RN, the nurse injector for the Parker Center. After listening to Lisa’s concerns, Angela felt the following plan would yield the best results. It included the injection of Restylane® in the hollow areas beneath Lisa’s lower eyelids, in the lines running from the corner of her nose to the corner of her mouth and Dysport™ in the wrinkle lines between her eyebrows.
“Angela used a numbing cream on my face which took about 20 minutes to take effect, and then the injections only took another 20 minutes or so. It really didn’t hurt at all. It just felt like a slight pinch. To be honest, the first day after the injections I was a little swollen and slightly bruised, but I was fine after that,” said Lisa.
Toward the end of the first week Lisa says the filler really settled in place, and she is thrilled with the results. Thanks to the Parker Center, everyone tells Lisa how great she looks including her brutally honest teenage daughter. Lisa says the first comment people make is how refreshed she appears.
“It’s great. I absolutely love that it looks so natural. I look just like me but less tired. I would do it again in a heartbeat, but I don’t have to for another year. It was so worth it, and I’ve recommended the Parker Center to my friends,” said Lisa.
Restylane® is a gel based hyaluronic filler that work with the body’s own hyaluronic acid to plump up surrounding tissue. Since it’s a naturally occurring substance in the body, allergy testing is not required. While everyone is different, Restylane® will last for somewhat different time frames based on the area injected as well as the individual. For example, in the area between the corner of the nose and corner of the mouth (known as the “nasolabial fold”) where there is a lot of movement with talking, chewing, smiling, the longevity of Restylane® is usually around 4-6 months. In the area beneath the lower eyelids (called the “tear trough”), where there is little movement, Restylane® will usually last 12-18 months.
Dysport™ is an alternative to Botox™. Like Botox™, Dysport™ is injected into static wrinkle areas such as the forehead or the creases between the eyebrows. This type of injection is the most popular non-surgical procedure performed in the U.S. today.
