Breast Implant Revision Before & After Case 1377
Before & After
Case Details
This 64 year old patient requested removal and replacement of her longstanding (40 years) subglandular silicone implants inserted elsewhere, both of which developed capsular contracture and were shown on an MRI to have ruptured. The patient wanted to stay with the same size implants. Dr Parker explained that since both breasts had developed capsular contracture along with ruptured implants, the risk of recurrent capsular contracture was high. He recommended the following plan to reduce the risk of recurrent capsular contracture to less than 5%: perform a capsulectomy and remove both implants from their subglandular pockets, close this space and insert new implants into a partial submuscular pocket as well as insert acellular dermal matrix (ADM.) The patient was in agreement and Dr Parker subsequently performed this procedure. Using the patient’s existing peri-areolar scars, he inserted 350 cc silicone implants as well as ADM into both breasts’ partial submuscular pockets. The patient was delighted with her quick, painless recovery. She loves the appearance and feel of her natural looking, soft breasts.
