Eyelid Lift Before & After Case 79
Before & After
Case Details
This 46 year old patient was referred to Dr. Parker by another patient. She asked him to improve the “swollen” appearance of both her upper and lower eyelids, as well as the depression between her lower eyelids and cheek, called the “tear trough”. Under general anesthesia, Dr. Parker performed an upper lid blepharoplasty, removing excess skin and a small to moderate amount of fat on the inner aspect of the upper eyelid. At the same time, he performed a lower lid blepharoplasty. This was more involved. He transferred herniated lower lid fat from its original location to the tear trough area and secured it in place with sutures. This improved the puffiness of the lower lid and also created better blending from the lower eyelid to the cheek. In addition, Dr. Parker lifted and tightened the lower eyelid margin, itself, into a more pleasing, symmetric position with sutures. This is called a lateral canthopexy. Finally, he removed the excess skin from the lower eyelid. The patient’s recovery was a bit longer than normal but not surprising given the extent of the work performed. The patient is pleased with the markedly improved appearance and symmetry of both her upper and lower eyelids.
