Rhinoplasty Before & After Case 1289

This 73 year old male, referred to Dr. Parker by an existing patient, requested improvement in the progressive, irregular contour of his nose which had developed over the past several months. After examining the patient, Dr. Parker explained to the patient that he had a condition called “rhinophyma”, an irregular overgrowth of the nasal skin with formation of scar tissue caused by over-active oil glands in the skin. Dr. Parker explained this could be improved by a surgical procedure called dermaplaning and dermabrasion to remove the overactive oil glands and scar tissue. Dr. Parker subsequently performed this procedure. The patient’s skin healed over the next week. As healing occurred, the patient could see his skin contour was much smoother and the irregular contour greatly improved. He is very pleased with the excellent outcome of his treatment.
